DESCRIPTION
The Dead Village is a narrative driven horror game. Our vision for the project was to create an immersive horror experience using environmental storytelling without any jumpscares. The low-fi visual look of the game was inspired by 90s/early 2000s PlayStation 1 games like Silent Hill.
My team and I created The Dead Village over a period of 3 months and collaborated with two students from the Berklee School of Music to create SFX and an original soundtrack.
The story is that you, the player, have crashed your car on a seemingly empty highway deep in a forested area of backwoods America. As you leave the wreckage, you see a light in the distance; but as you approach you hear some strange noises...
My responsibilities on The Dead Village were:

Design, create and implement 2 immersive horror levels in Unity with ProBuilder.

Design and implement moments and interactions with the environment and NPCs that immerse and evoke emotions of creepiness and psychological horror.

Writing NPC dialogue.

Directing in-game cutscenes and the trailer using storyboards.
